Setting Goals
Having goals for weight loss and fitness greatly increases your chances of success and gives you opportunities to celebrate along the way.
Get a clear picture in you head of your ideal weight. If you have pictures of yourself at the weight you are aiming for, dig them out and plaster them on your refrigerator. If you don’t have pictures of yourself, choose some from a magazine. When choosing pictures from a magazine, remember to choose realistic, rather than discouraging pictures.
Setting unrealistic goals leads to discouragement and feelings of failure. What you want is to be the best you that you can be. Aiming to be healthy and fit is more realistic than aiming to be supermodel thin.
Make your goals specific. The more specific your goals, the easier it is to measure and celebrate success along the way. Little successes, lead to confidence and to more successes.
If you find that you are not reaching your goals, then you need to evaluate first your goals and reconsider whether they are realistic for you. Then you need to evaluate your approach. Are you staying focused on your goals? Are you taking the steps that will lead to your goals? Ask yourself, what is one thing, if I did it consistently, that would help me reach my goals? Then do it.
